General Conference had its good moments and its low moments, but overall it had a different spirit to it than 2000 in Cleveland and 2004 in Pittsburgh. It’s time for us to gird ourselves with hope and get on with making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Every petition that every member, church, group, annual conference or general board or agency sent in was dealt with in some way. Countless legislation (approved or not) goes on consent calendars and so a lot of the work of General Conference is hard to track while one is actually on site.

Yet there were major issues dealt with over the days.

The ordination process was shortened in requirements for candidacy as well as “provisional” membership (no more “probationary” membership after January 1).
